TD presents African Heritage Month
In 1984, Halifax Public Libraries and the Black History Month Association launched their inaugural Black History Month program in Halifax. Forty years later, we are looking back on the many moments, leaders, achievements, and struggles that have shaped where we are today.
We hope you’ll join us for our annual kick-off event as we head into another remarkable year of community programming. The evening will feature performances by Owen O’Sound Lee and Jupiter Reign, refreshments, and lots of memories (old and new!).
The theme for African Heritage Month 2024 in Nova Scotia is: Our Smiles, Our Joy, Our Resilience as African Nova Scotians. This theme outlines the spirit of perseverance that people of African Descent have demonstrated over the centuries in our province.
